Guide to Cleaning and Maintaining Dog Collars
2026-05-08 14:15:48

Long term wearing of dog collars can result in hair, dust, sweat, and even residual odors, which not only affect appearance but may also breed bacteria and irritate the dog's skin. Therefore, regular cleaning and maintenance of collars are very important. Collars made of different materials have different cleaning methods. Mastering the correct method can not only keep the collar clean and hygienic, but also extend its service life.

Nylon collars can be directly soaked in warm water, mixed with a small amount of neutral detergent, gently brushed with a soft bristled brush, focusing on cleaning the dirt at the buckle and stitching. After brushing clean, rinse with clean water and let it air dry naturally in a ventilated place to avoid exposure to sunlight and prevent material aging and fading. The pure cotton collar is recommended to be hand washed, and the water temperature should not be too high to avoid deformation caused by excessive rubbing. After washing, it should be laid flat and dried to maintain softness.

The suede collar should be gently wiped with a soft cloth to remove surface dust. If there are stains, a special suede cleaner can be used. Apply a small amount and wipe clean, then let it air dry naturally. Do not wash with water to avoid damaging the material. The metal collar can be wiped with a dry cloth to remove surface oxide layer and stains, and a small amount of anti rust oil should be applied regularly to prevent rusting. In daily maintenance, the surface dust of the collar can be wiped off after walking the dog, and it should be stored in a dry and ventilated place to avoid dampness and mold. The wear and tear should be checked regularly, and timely maintenance should be carried out to keep the collar in good condition at all times.
